PRESIDENT Cecilia Garza, CVT, RVT
I began my career in the veterinary field in 1998 as an assistant in a small animal hospital in San Antonio, Texas. I graduated from Bel-Rea Institute of Animal Technology in 2004 and am currently working for Louisville Family Animal Hospital.
I am an active member of CACVT as I have been volunteering for the PR committee for over the past year and am the Chair of the National Veterinary Technician Week (NVTW) task force. I am also a member of the National Association of Veterinary Technicians in America (NAVTA) and the Texas Association of Registered Veterinary Technicians (TARVT). My interest in dentistry has guided me to pursue my VTS in dentistry. I have recently become a mentee of the Academy of Veterinary Dental Technicians (AVDT).
I have attended several CACVT conferences, CVMA conferences, CACVT Leadership programs, CVMA leadership programs, and two State Board of Veterinary Medicine meetings. I feel this experience has provided a “big picture” understanding of the association and I would like to apply my ideas in the more focused position of president.
In my free time I enjoy hiking, spending time with friends, playing & watching basketball, and traveling. I also love spending time with my three cats, Kolorado, Oliver, and Khalua, my guinea pig, Nod, and my leopard gecko, Samantha.
VICE PRESIDENT Julie Willer, CVT
Julie Willer, a Missouri native, came to CO to attend Bel-Rea in 1999. She graduated in March 2000 and began working at the Veterinary Referral Center of Colorado (VRCC) for Veterinary Cancer Specialists in June of 2000. Julie now works at Animal Emergency and Specialty Center for Veterinary Surgical Services (part of VRCC).
Julie organized the VRCC Annual continuing education conference, historically for veterinarians, in Manitou Springs, CO in 2002. That year, she added a technician section, where technicians taught fellow technicians. Julie served as the CACVT Treasurer from 2005 to 2007.
Outside of work, Julie enjoys the CO outdoors by skiing, hiking, motorcycle riding and enjoys SCUBA diving in the Caribbean. She also enjoys cooking, scrapbooking, watching movies and taking care of her 3 kitties with her fiancé Tony.
SECRETARY Jasmin Robinson, CVT
My name is Jasmin Audrea Robinson. I’m originally from Los Angeles, California and have lived in Colorado for 9 years now. I graduated from the Community College of Denver in May 2006. There I received my Associates in Veterinary Technology in which I later passed my VTNE in June 2006. I have been a member of the CACVT every since then.
I am running for Secretary-elect because I believe in the CACVT and what it has to offer for all of us. I would like to spread my wings and become more involved with where our profession is going, and be apart of the decision making to help better represent and serve all of you.
In my free time I enjoy spending time with my loving boyfriend Drew, our two cats Esmeralda & Snow, and dog Lucy. I also enjoy hiking, dancing, reading, being with friends & family and eating lots of snacks.
TREASURER Kelly Miller, CVT
After becoming a licensed wildlife rehabilitor in 1998, I decided to pursue a degree in veterinary technology. After graduating from Bel-Rea in 2003, I worked in various veterinary hospitals as a relief technician. In 2005, an amazing opportunity came to me when I was offered a position with the Community College of Denver Veterinary Technology program. Teaching students to become outstanding technicians is so rewarding, and I would be proud to serve on the CACVT Executive Board to guide the current and future technicians.
Outside of the classroom, I love spending time with my husband and sons. We share our home with our cats, Remi and Jagger, birds, Lillie (blue and gold Macaw) and Michelle (Nanday Conure), and Nicholas, our dog.
