FIND YOUR PURR-FECT MATCH AT THE FELINE FIESTA
June is Adopt-a-Cat Month and the Dumb Friends League is throwing a party! Get that lovin’ feline at the Feline Fiesta on Saturday, June 28. Visit one or both Dumb Friends League shelters to adopt a cat, learn about cat care and behavior, enjoy fun activities and shop for your feline friends. All cat adopters will receive a free T-shirt.
“Cats are seasonal breeders,” said Bob Rohde, Dumb Friends League president. “As a result shelters everywhere receive thousands of kittens, frequently accompanied by mother cats, starting in April and extending into the fall.
“We are already seeing a marked increase this year in the number of cats entering our shelters,” Rohde said. “As a community we must reduce these numbers by spaying and neutering our own pets. We can all be a part of the pet overpopulation solution. Please check in your local community for spay and neuter resources available.”
At the Feline Fiesta, hundreds of cats and kittens will be available for adoption. There also will be food, vendors selling unique cat products, and face painting, crafts and games for the kids. The Feline Fiesta will run from 10:30 a.m. to 6 p.m. at both Dumb Friends League locations:·
- Quebec Street shelter, 2080 S. Quebec St., Denver·
- Buddy Center, 4556 Castleton Court, Castle Rock
Plus, don’t miss the Cat Exhibition at the Quebec Street shelter from 11 a.m. to 12 p.m. This new feature will highlight 20 special cats that have plenty of ‘purr’-sonality. The Feline Fiesta is generously sponsored by Hill’s Science Diet. It is a free event, but attendees are invited to bring a donation of non-clumping litter. For more information, visit www.ddfl.org, or call (303) 751-5772, Ext. 1378.
Participating vendors at our Quebec Street shelter include: Cat Man Do, offering outdoor cat enclosures, Expressions Photography, The Whole Cat, Colorado Fabric Designs and more. Participating vendors at our Buddy Center include: Precious Cat and more.
