Governance

CACVT is the governing body for certified veterinary technicians in the state of Colorado. This is because technicians are certified (a voluntary action) and not governed by a state legal practice act. It is up to Colorado-licensed veterinarians to decide whom they wish to hire.

Colorado State Board of Veterinary Medicine (SBVM): Governs veterinarians, not technicians.

  • Parking - while there is some street parking, the easiest place is a lot at the corner of 16th street and Sherman. The cost is $9 or $10 and they accept personal checks. Click here for a map and directions from this parking to the building.
  • Building - the meetings are held at 1560 Broadway, Denver which is on the south west corner of Lincoln and 16th Street. (the posting on CACVT's monthly calendar also has a map of the location)
  • Once you enter the building, you must pay attention to which set of elevators you get on - one set goes to the lower floors, the other set goes to the higher numbered floors. The start time and room number can be found at www.dora.state.co.us/veterinarians/boardmeetings.htm or on the agenda. It can change every meeting.
  • Carpooling - if you prefer not to drive downtown, the CACVT staff is willing to meet you at the CACVT office and will drive. Please contact us in the CACVT office at least 2 days prior to the meeting to make arrangements. We typically leave the CACVT office at 8 am and arrive back between 12:15 and 12:45 pm.
