Veterinary Technician National Exam (VTNE)
The VTNE is the primary national test which must be passed before one can become credentialed. It is distributed by the American Association of Veterinary State Boards (AAVSB). Visit their web site for more details: www.aavsb.org.
As of June 2010, the test is now computer based and one must be a graduate of an AVMA-accredited program in order to sit for the test (exceptions are Alaska, Washington, and Delaware).
