Table Mountain Animal Center, one of metro Denver's largest animal shelters, eagerly awaits its anticipated August move and transition from the 33-year-old outdated facility into the brand new beautiful Foothills Animal Shelter, the brand new facility with a brand new name.

o LOCATION: New facility at 580 McIntyre Street, Golden

The new 30,000-square-foot facility, over double the size of the current building, is located off of 6th Avenue West near the Colorado Mills Mall and on the Jefferson County Fairgrounds. While it will be a very inviting and pleasant place for the public to visit, most importantly, Foothills Animal Shelter will have great living quarters for the nearly 10,000 animals cared for each year.

The design will provide large and comfortable areas for a wide variety of homeless pets during their temporary stay. Open rooms for cat colonies feature natural lighting and multiple levels for the felines to jump and play. Many outside yard areas also exist for volunteers to exercise and train numerous dogs at one time.

The shelter will remain an open-admissions facility-never turning away an animal in need. Adoptions, community humane education, low-cost spay/neuter surgeries, microchip implants, vaccinations and dog licensing will continue to be important services offered to the public.

About Table Mountain Animal Center
The mission of Table Mountain Animal Center is to provide the best C.A.R.E. possible for every animal that enters our doors. Community, Adopt, Reunite and Educate (C.A.R.E.) are the four key principles of Table Mountain Animal Center. Founded in 1976, Table Mountain Animal Center is a public/private partnership that provides animal control services to nine municipalities within Jefferson County. The open-admissions facility (that never turns any animal away) cares for nearly 10,000 animals annually and is one of the largest animal shelters in the Denver-metro area.

A brand new $9.7 million facility is currently being finished at 6th Avenue near Colorado Mills Mall and the Jefferson County Fairgrounds. Along with the new building will also be a brand new name for the organization-Foothills Animal Shelter. The name change will be gradual and phased-in between now and the anticipated August opening of the new facility. The Table Mountain Animal Center Foundation is still seeking donors from the community to help complete the project. Contact Megan Peters, CEO of the Table Mountain Animal Center Foundation, at 720.407.5227 or check out www.foothillsanimalshelter.org for more information on ways to help.
